Belkar's Boffers

Postby I'm belkar's evil twin on Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:21 pm

so, since I have made so many boffers (over 50 and counting) I thought that I would make a topic just for my weapons.
and i'll try to post pictures (photobucket's free right?) of my newest and favorite masterpiecses.
in the works is a pole axe coverted from a spear, and a partisian derived from a longer weapon of the same orign as the afore-mentioned spear. and my disc, I've got to show widigo my disc, if he's still around.

Sweet. If we get enough topics like this we can always get a subforum for weapon journals.

I have tried bent PVC pipe for the first time, and met with success. I bent my elven half-and-half so that it look's like the ones in the movie, besides obvious details. and I (sob) scrapped my uruk-hia berserker sword to make hadhafang, elronds sword. it's probebly the most perfect sword ive made so far. :D
I'm having a spot of trouble uploading photos on here, but i'll try to find a way.

The boffer armor looks well formed. How flexible is it? I'd love to see some color fleshed out on those other weapons if you can.

I bent my PVC pipe with a heat gun (think super powered hair-dryer) and even though hadhafang doesn't look that curved it's just enough to make it work, which is the way it is in the movie.
as for the armor, it is very flexible, both the scale hauberk and the fully articulated gauntlets.the scales are made out of really thin foam covered in duct tape and was really time consuming, more pictures soon. 8)

Heehee, double post. ALSO seconded on the heat gun and gauntlets. I'm not thinking of making gauntlets myself but a chestplate sounds cool.

A hair-dryer works fine, and I picked one up for 2 dollars at the second hand store. Bends pipe decently, so it rates a meh+.

I was actually thinking of a weapons mod for ZDoom when I heard heat gun- it was essentially a respriting job of the fire spell in Hexen so that it looked like a heat gun. But on topic... Now I may just have to get a hot air hair dryer to try this.

The problem I had with the hair dryer was it heated up the pipe unevenly. If you try it, test it on a piece of scrap pipe first, and use gloves.
