Favorite music

I'm wondering what you guys are listening to. I can see that Dean has a great taste in music in my opinion, and that some of the lyrics from the page has helped me not getting words confused.

What do you listen to?

Flattery will get you everywhere! ;-)

My favorite genres tend to be of the rock persuasion, old and new. Although, I do like some classical, folk, and obviously chiptunes.

The bands that I'm listening to the most right now are Nightwish, Rilo Kiley, and Alanis Morissette.

The Kingdom Under Fire soundtrack is pwn. Oh come to think of it, I could probably submit that. The original files are waves on the second CD but I have FLAC encodings so that you could make OGGs of your particular quality. Other stuff I listen to includes.. well, anything that catches my ear. Sadly, Smooth Criminal (both the original and cover) has done this...

I'm always appreciative for new soundtracks, but that one will have to wait a little while longer. For my site I only want to post the soundtracks of games that are at least 10 years old or freeware.

There isn't anything special that happens after ten years since the game is still under copyright for almost a lifetime, but I felt I needed to create a cut-off point to keep most of the lawyers away.

However, if you have any other games that are over 10 years where the soundtrack is right on the CD, by all means, email them to me.

Please send the music in a lossless compression (FLAC is optimal) and if the tracks don't have titles, please give them titles that match the game.

Wow, it's like not even mentioned as a game by the original creators anymore, and it no longer has a website. But a cutoff of 10 years sounds good nonetheless.

I would kill for the ambiance of Dungeon Keeper 2. Can't find where to extract it and I've had no luck finding it online either. But I'd listen to it and the master's silly voice all day "It is the witching hour. Curses are half price"

I'm a big fan of The Beatles and I have a lot of their music. I also listen to Voltaire (not Cabaret Voltaire, just Voltaire) and Flogging Molly quite a bit. Most of the music I listen to is rock, but I also have some folk and a small amount of metal.

I'm too a huge fan of the Beatles, I got all their albums except one. My favorites lists Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Eric Clapton & Cream, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Elton John, Billy Joel, I could go on... There isn't much modern music I like right now, but at least it's good to see that rock's coming back again.

I looked at the Dungeon Keeper 1 data files and saw that the music was in XMI format. However, I'm not sure if Bullfrog kept this for DK2. Usually if you can't find music in the data files it's because it's compressed.

God thinks the white man is Satan. I like Voltaire too. His humorous tunes are cynical and offensive, which I love, but his serious tunes are deep and meaningful. It took awhile for his vocal style to grow on me, but now I appreciate it.

That's some serious rock n roll there Thomas. It's always good to know that rock music is still alive even when a lot of the old bands are dead.

Almost Human is my favorite CD of his, it has some of his sickest and most comical songs and all of more serious ones are still good. The Devil's Bris is one of my least favorites, even though people seem to like it so much.

There are several track off The Devil's Bris that I like. Ex-Lover's Lover is hilarious as is When You're Evil. Anniversary and All the Way Down are both really beautiful, and of course The Man Upstairs.

But I'd have to agree, Almost Human is the best. God Thinks just makes me wet myself. The Last Word, Feathery Wings, and Out of Reach give me so much hope. Many people say that Gothic/Darkwave music is all about depression and suicide, but these songs are just the opposite.

Boo Hoo had a few good tracks like Irresponsible and Future Ex-Girlfriend, but I kind of thought the album was a little muddled.

I didn't care much for Then and Again, but I liked Banned on Vulcan (I'm a Trekkie). I haven't heard anything off Zombie Prostitute. Is it any good?

Ex-Lover's Lover and When You're Evil are both very good. I also like Ravens Land, The Chosen, and All the Way Down. Anniversary never really appealed to me very much, nor did Parade or They Know Me Here, I think mainly because of the instrumental style of them.

Almost Human, God Thinks, and Dead Girls are all very entertaining. I agree that Out of Reach, Feathery Wings, and The Last Word have a sad but still hopeful mood to them. I think Voltaire does a nice job of countering that conotation about Gothic music, he has a very healthy balance of happy, sad, and funny songs.

I still need to get Boo Hoo, although I've heard Vampire Club and Future Ex-Girlfriend and they're both pretty good.

I think Then and Again isn't his greatest, but at the same time it isn't terrible; the songs that I liked off of it were The Happy Song, Wall of Pride, and Goodnight Demonslayer. I don't have Banned on Vulcan, but I've heard The Sexy Data Tango and the USS Make Shit Up and they're both very funny.

The Zombie Prostitute Maxi is okay. It only has five songs, Zombie Prostitute, Dia De Los Muertos, China Girl, Cantina, and Hell in a Hand Basket; all of which are going to be on Ooky Spooky except for China Girl and Dia De Los Muertos, which is going to be done in English. I didn't really like China Girl, so unless you really want to hear Dia De Los Muertos, I would just wait to buy Ooky Spooky.

The two Banned on Vulcan songs you mentioned are a riot. I can send them to you if you'd like.

I'll probably just wait for Ooky Spooky and download the missing songs.

*sigh* I'm such a pirate... *wipes away tear*

Heh heh... Yeah, I'm an electronic pirate. Aarr matey, pillage my booty!

Although, I have spent several thousand dollars on music, movies, and games in my life, so it's not like I don't contribute to "The Man".

Why just yesterday I ordered Liz Phair's self-titled album. Although, to offset that I downloaded a huge collection of old DOS games.
