Is that an accurate count, an approximation, an exaggeration, or a superfluous guess?

Hi. Im Valdor. I currently hail from Mount Vernon, WA with my fighting group being in Bellingham,Wa. We are not affiliated with any other group or organization but our own independant group with an average of 45 fighters.

Everywhere i go i seem see this site pop up and be mentioned so i though i would check it out and talk shop with ppl. See if there are other boffers in the area

Now a little info about me. Im 23 years old and have been fighting since the age of 16. Been with my current group for around 3 years and i count myself, with the suppot of others, to be in the top fighting tier within my group. I am not super good with any one weapon and switch style very often. My greatest strenghth lies in my ability to be able to pick up almost any weapon and be able to handle it efficiently almost right away. I may not biuld my one weapons and am not considered a "tapesmith" with-in my group, I am experianced with all safety issues

I hope to start making contibution to the board but due to lack of internet i dont know how often that will be. Any questions then feel free to ask

Hello Everyone! i'm mike i'm 24, i live in ashland oregon and austin/flooresville texas (mostly oregon but i go back in forth every month), i am a former Marine and am going to school part time but considering going back into the millitary.

i just learned about "boffing" and "larp" today, and everything i have seen looks like a lot of fun. when i was in high school in the late nineties (playing mtg mirage), a small group of friends and i used to make armor and weapons from cardboard and ductape and just get brutal on eachother, looking back it was the some of the most fun i've had in my entire life. i thought those days were gone until my little brother-inlaw told me all about it today.

heres my questions, where do i start, is this all over the place, are there leagues and such? is there any amount of stratedgy involved, cause the youtube videos i've seen look like utter chaos? how hard can you hit, can you grab stuff? how would i go about starting a club if one doesn't exist?

thanks any help is greatly apriciated i hope to learn as much as i can from this site.
~thanks

Hello Mike, nice to have you.

Boffering is world wide, although it's sparse.
Here's a link to the largest boffer societies: http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Boffer/Wiki/index.php?title=Boffer_societies.

It's still an amateur sport, so no official leagues or rules exist.

Like any sport, there is a great deal of strategy involved, but you don't really notice it until you start playing.

Depending on how well you construct your weapons, you can hit very hard. Just be careful when swinging full-force to pay attention to the structural integrity of your weapon. If a weapon breaks in combat it can become a real hazard.

Grabbing weapons is usually discouraged since you can imagine what would happen if you were to try and grab a sharp sword blade, but you can make your own rules around this (the same goes for throwing weapons).

If you want to start a club, first just make two boffers and find a friend to start with, then play in an area where people will see you like parks, gymnasiums, etc.

The most important part is to enjoy yourself.

Greater Toronto Area... that's good. For a second I thought you were gonna say Liberty City.
