Sidewinder Strategic Commander

Talk about anything that doesn't fit into the other catergories.

Apologies for the month long hiatus. I had to get internet access put in my name and decided to go a month without it, which meant I did a bunch of work on Greaser Enhanced. The good thing about that is that Greaser Enhanced is kinda my baby, so finishing that up (or at the very least getting that much closer to finishing it) helps a lot. I need to touch up the graphics and finish the status bar and it'll be ready for human consumption. Then we can play with that through megawads like those crazy monsterfest fights.

Sweet, I looking forward to it! By the way, is there a preliminary copy of Greaser Enhanced that I can play?

While I keep a beta up at this ZDoom thread, a few things remain before I release the next version. For one, I'm replacing the graphics of the Matilda mounted machinegun with what I think are more appropriate graphics. So the name of the weapon will change although the role it plays (fire support) will not. Otherwise there's just a new status bar awaiting completion- it's really just a modified Doom 64 status bar though.

I get the following error when I try to launch Grease... "Script error, "grease.wad:DECORATE" line 117: "NOAUTOAIM" is an unknown flag.

I'm using ZDOOM 2.3.1.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I forgot to mention that SVN versions of ZDoom are needed because it's using stuff that's not in the official. Thankfully daily builds are made from SVN versions so it's not much of a pain. http://svn.drdteam.org/

The only downside is that we need to make sure we have the same revision when we attempt to play with each other. I'll just suggest we update to latest version when we do.

Now we're cooking with gas!

I love the new weapons. Dual Uzis? Sweet! They're really cool in a dark room where they create the epileptic flash. The new rocket launcher is amazing too. I was a bit disappointed with the sniper rifle. It doesn't seem to do very much damage. The throwing knife is really cool though!

The Sniper Rifle doesn't shine here due to Doom 2 not really having any truly invisible monsters or rooms full of monsters walking down a hall. In both of these situations the Sniper Rifle outperforms all others, as it pierces enemies as well as detects invisible monsters. If it did much more damage, it'd be killing Demons in one shot, and that wasn't really its goal.

Oh, and use a Sniper Rifle shot on someone turtling with the Matilda. The shield it puts up doesn't stop these bullets!

Just for this forum, an experimental Greaser Enhanced that includes some... new functionality. The HUD is in this version, as well as melee buttons. I'm not totally satisfied with how it decides to toss knives first but at least someone CAN throw knives if they have em. I dunno, if people think that makes having the Knife/Grenade combo as a weapon redundant, I might change it back to just normal melee strikes.
