Boffers & Duffle Bags?

Postby travelsonic on Thu Oct 15, 2009 12:01 pm

Hello,

I am planning on getting some friends together to run / playtest a LARP I have been writing, and was thinking for boffer transport on using a duffle bag. Question is, what is the largest sized duffle bag out there, what is the longest boffer you can possibly fit in there, and how many could you feasably fit in there?

The LARP I am working on uses boffers up to / not exceeding longsword length, and will probably only have a max 5 - 8 people alltogether, just so you know.

you should have no trouble.
two guys at my field have found duffle bags to fit small polearms. these giant kind are a little bit awkward to carry, so they are mainly useful for keeping all your equipment in one place and ease of deployment from your vehicle. I have a large over-your-shoulder type sack (I think it might be army surplus) that has an open drawstring end that doubles as a handle, and when I do carry large amounts of weapons it comes in very handy, as the size does no matter, since the weapons can simply poke out the top of the bag, no problem.

there are a variety of other solutions, all you need to do is apply your ingenuity

look into a hockey bag if you're trying to stash some of the larger polearms. the bags are extra big, bulky as hell to hold smaller gear, and usually have adaptations to hold the hockey sticks themselves- and let's face it, being able to house one of those should mean the bag is more than adequate to hold a moderate to larger polearm.

I actually think I have found a decent solution: Those giant garment bags that are used when transpoorting suits and other articles of fine clothes. They can EASILY hold polearms, claymores and stalves with plenty of room for the smaller items, and some even have pockets useful for spell packet storage. :D
