Nerds of the Night "panel"

This section of Youmacon is a wonderful opportunity to sit back and get your nerd on! Chat about anything, listen in on various discussions, just kinda crowd surf, whatever! There are no panel guidelines other than have fun and discuss what you like! I loved my time there and would definitely try that again next year.

I quoted panel because it really isn't, so I am properly using quotation marks! Ha.

Let's see what all flew around in there:
-games we were anticipating
-various star trek stuff
-someone summed up an entire anime for us because she thought it was that bad and not worth our time to watch
-we talked about the non-anime cosplayers
-Youmacon staff love their job compared to staffing other cons due to proper management and actually getting feedback from staff, or so I heard from a staffer
-Youmacon really is big, and I was especially opened to that hearing it from a staffer
-got a dude's AIM sn, still have yet to add it to my buddy list and bug him

Proper quotation usage FTW!

I met several girls there... too bad their all underage. I swear, being a guy just isn't fair. I keep getting older, but I still find women in their late teens attractive. Thankfully, I've matured enough that I wouldn't consider a relationship with them because I'd rather not listen to them squee about how hot the Jonas brothers are, but that still doesn't prevent me from pining for their gorgeous looks.

My libido aside, I did get to play some games in the gaming room and I also had to explain to several people about how I've never even played the game that my costume came from.

I've also heard good things from some of the Youmacon staff. I've hung out with a couple outside of the con, and they are pretty proud of what their staff has accomplished. Everything went smoothly this year for me except for preregistration. There was a mixup on their site, and I sent five emails to their support address and never received a response from any of them. I eventually figured the problem out myself, but I was annoyed that they were useless.

I actually know about the whole underage thing- at 20 I was kinda surprised by the sheer number of people on my buddy list that were both female and underage. At least in IM there's not much one can do because odds are the girl doesn't even live in the same state. I'd say 80% of those people are now legal at this point in my life.

(again, thankfully I'm interested in someone else now!)

I heard the original cosplay shoot was a brand new thing, and hopefully we get more people involved on that next year. I will try to go as Ghat (Zeno Clash) but I need way more reference pictures, particularly of what is on his back.

Part of hanging out with underage teens (male and female alike) is that I like being able to be a mentor to them. Let's face it, most teenagers aren't going to listen to a word their parents say, and will often defy them out of spite. However, when I give a guy advice on how to treat a woman with respect, or remind a a girl that guys will say anything for sex, they usually listen to what I have to say.

I hope they pick a better location to do the photo shoot at the new building. The lighting in the pool room was awful and most of the pictures I've seen online that were taken there didn't turn out very well.

Good luck on the costume for next year. I'll admit that I've never even heard of the character or what he's from.

As I was saying go download the demo off Steam! You'll know whether it's worth the money or not by the time the demo ends.
